I woke up this morning and wrote an entire chapter on my fanfiction story Up from Darkness, and when I went down to the kitchen to get some ice for my coke, my mother drops a bombshell.

Michael Jackson is dead.

How bizarre isn't that? I mean, he's been pretty much a constant in our lives much like "school is boring" and "candy is tasty", and all of a sudden he's gone, just like that. No guns a' blazin', no transformer battle (anyone seen Moonwalker? He's a bloody transformer, but hey, it was fun to watch), just apparantly heart failure in his home in the middle of the night.

I didn't listen to him when I grew up, but I have heard a few of his songs, but I can admit that I for a long time just knew him as "that weird pedophile". I have been corrected on this and now I started to respect the man a little bit.

So now he's gone, and most newspapers describe it as as big of a jawdropper as when Elvis died. I agree, though I like Elvis' music better, Michael Jackson was just about as big in one way or another.

I'm no die-hard fan like I said, but I think the world will be a slightly different place now. I most certainly never expected Michael Jackson to die at the age of 50, alone in the middle of the night, especially since he wrote in his biography that he feared a death like Elvis', alone.

And then he dies like this, and some of the newspapers speculate in that his medicine abuse contributed (obviously it did, but how much?), and if it played as large a role as it did with Elvis, that would be another ironic parallel.

So to finish this rambling, I say that Michael Jackson probably won't be forgotten ever and live on through his music like Elvis.

I still can't wrap my head around it...
